  • Dithering algorithms. I implemented five of these. I wrote my own code for doing the actual work on this stuff and figured out the first couple with the help of Wikipedia. This page was great for grabbing a few more.

  • Reaction-Diffusion simulation. Finally figured this one out. It took more than just this reference, but most of what I needed was here.

  • Book on algorithms. Not really hands on coding, but very readable. Got it Saturday and tore through a quarter of it pretty quickly.

  • Command Line Interface Guidelines. I like making command line programs. There is useful info here. An early excerpt I found very interesting:

  Traditionally, UNIX commands were written under the assumption they were going to be used primarily by other programs. They had more in common with functions in a programming language than with graphical applications.

  Today, even though many CLI programs are used primarily (or even exclusively) by humans, a lot of their interaction design still carries the baggage of the past. It’s time to shed some of this baggage: if a command is going to be used primarily by humans, it should be designed for humans first.
