Well, my pc is back in the shop after a brief visit home to confirm that the BestBuy service team didn’t do anything productive. (BestBuy rant forthcoming.) While it was home, I managed to copy over everything off the hard drive. One thing I had really missed over the last couple of weeks was my old mail archives and addresses. So, while I had the pc, I installed Thunderbird, imported all 2 gigabytes of archived Outlook mail (I know, I know, I can probably delete those mails from 1999), copied it all over to the Mac and installed Thunderbird there. Seamless. Looks like I’ll be on the Mac for another two weeks at least, so I’m settling in. Thunderbird does pretty much everything I need it to, so for now, I’m happy with it.
Who knows, maybe I’ll become a permanent Mac guy. Those MacBook Pros do look mighty sweet…
