This is so brilliant. I’ve been waiting for just this media model for a while. I knew it was only a matter of time.
ABC to offer various shows for free, with embedded ads.

Apparently, it’s streaming only. No download, no iPodization. You can pause and rewind, but somehow it’s going to force you to sit through the ads. I don’t have a big problem with that. You’re paying for the content by sitting through a few minutes of ads. Look at it this way: say an episode of Lost contains 5 minutes worth of ads. You could get an ad-free version on iTunes for $1.99. So imagine they are paying you two bucks for five minutes of your time – which you can use to go to the bathroom or raid the refrigerator if you want.
This is great! I’ve been questioning myself lately why aren’t there services like these already. I really don’t mind short ads (aslong there are under 10 minutes :D) if I can legally watch movies/tv for free on the ‘net!
Thank you for pointing it out! 😀
Hmm, 5 minutes of ads isn’t bad at all for me pretending to work on my computer for ~40min.
Hehe. I’m just guessing about the 5 mins. You get close to 15 mins of ads when you watch an hour show on TV. So who knows.
Yeah 15 mins are okay, but it usually isn’t in one chunk (it would be like 3 x 5 mins), so aslong as they aren’t in 10 min chunks 😀
Well now i definitely have no excuses not to watch LOST and finally get caught up with what all I’ve missed.
