I know it’s a ways away, but FOTB will most likely be the next conference you see me out and about at. And probably the only remaining one this year. I had planned to cut down a bit on travel this year, but wound up doing FiTC Amsterdam and 360iDev earlier this year, and Flash on Tap just recently, which was right here in Boston, so a no-brainer!
But I have to say, that if I could only travel to a single conference per year, it would not take me any time to decide on Flash on the Beach. I was at the original in 2006, and went back in 07 and 08. It never fails to be my favorite. Not sure if it’s the location (Brighton is a lot of fun), the people (seems to be the only conference my Norwegian friends care to go to), or the organizer (John Davey rocks!) or probably just the combination of all that and much more combined. But there’s something about being there. I get very psyched up for it every year. And already I’m starting to look forward to it. It’s like Christmas for me. I know others feel the same way, too.
Anyway, not much else to really say about it. If you haven’t been there yet, do whatever you have to do to get over there. You won’t regret it. If you’ve gone before, I’ll most likely see you there again this year. Not sure what I’ll talk about this year. Perhaps iPhone stuff, or more likely some game architecture stuff. We’ll see. John’s already bugging me for a description.
In the past years I’ve spent a bit of extra time before and/or after the conference in London, hanging out with Tink, or in Brighton itself, along with the crew who camped out at Niqui’s house last year. This year, I’ll be in London for a few days before, doing a Making Things Move workshop with the London Flash Platform User Group. So if you are around there around then, drop me a line.
Are they going to have CS5 sneak-peeks? It was about this early that they started showing a few things from Adobe CS4. I hope they fix the Flash 3D enginge.
I attended to FOTB last year and have a really GREAT time, I am going again this year, no doubt it will be GREAT too. I would love to see your preso about game architecture stuff. Probably I will also attend to your workshop, see you in September.
