This one’s a freebie. It’s actually based on a Flash experiment I did way back in October or 2001. As a matter of fact, I opened up that original FLA and ripped out the frame by frame graphics of the running stick figure guy, pasted them into Fireworks and saved them out as pngs for use in the iPhone game. So, despite what it looks like, this game has been in development for over 7 years. 🙂
The strategy is to tilt your iDevice left or right to run left or right. Watch out for the falling balls. That’s all.

nice one keith, especialy the blood splatter 🙂
Hey Keith. Any decent iPhone dev community sites you’re aware of?
Very cool. Its amazing how the simple games yield the greatest replay value.
That game is written in Lite 3.0, isn’t it? Does iPhone have that fp support?
Now can you make us a AS3-ObjC bridge so we can just be a part of it!! 🙂
What books do you recommend / have you read?
I need something that really starts low.
@Jloa – The iPhone (to date) does not support Flash, which means no Flash Lite 3. This game is an Objective-C based application, similar to Keith’s Dust and the other apps found in iTunes available for purchase and free-download.
@Nicolas – I recommend reading the previous posts by Keith, on this blog, he has provided in depth, links, guides and even a complete tutorial split across multiple blog entries.
Who are you, his PR? 🙂
Literally changed the way I use my iPhone. I used to flip it the OTHER direction when I went from portrait to landscape. Falling Balls has retrained me. 🙂
Seems to consume a lot of battery… not sure if it’s because I spend too much time playing it… or could it be all the white? An option to inverse the screen might be nice.
But I loves it. More please!
My initial euphoria about iPhone development has dwindled! I even bought the Beginning iPhone Development book but since Apple’s dev membership system is totally buggy and Apple seems not to care to answer my two sent support requests I’ve lost most of the current interest. Back to ActionScript!
Too bad it’s not available to the Brazillian iTunes store. Looks awesome!
can you create tutorial iphone development game for this game?…. ihope 😀
Nothing wrong with simplicity. This actually reminds me of a really lame game I wrote on a Commodore 64 when I was a kid – but instead of trying to avoid the balls you had to catch the dots. As you progressed through the game the dots would fall faster and faster (theoretically up to the max speed the screen could be repainted with the dots falling).
It was an insanely large number of lines of code to do something that simple. If I get an Iphone I may have to try to recreate it just for the fun of it.
my high is 72
My high score is 88, for now beaches
My high score is 415… Wo0t Wo0t!!!
You may not believe this, but I have 1332 on classic mode, 955 on advanced, and 144 on ninja. I love the new update. It is a great game, and I hope you make more updates on it. ;D
