5 years of blogging.

Yup, 5 years ago today, I posted the following:

http://www.bit-101.com/blog/?p=476

I started on Moveable Type, but some time later switched over to WordPress.

Of course, I had the BIT-101 site and domain more than a couple of years before that, posting experiments and so forth. But everyone was doing the blog thing so I followed the lemmings over the cliff. πŸ™‚ Now blogs are supposedly dead, replaced by Twitter, etc. But I think I can squeeze another year or two out of this old thing before retiring it.

Well I don’t know for me they are going up with Google RSS Reader + iPhone combo πŸ™‚ Good way to read stuff while going to work as with this I get informed in real time about updates without spending time/traffic to go to all those logs I read πŸ™‚

It’s kinda weird how your first post started with an id of 476…

I disagree on the knee jerk wired synopsis. I think blogging is just a tool amidst others such as flickr and other social publishing platforms. Soon we shall all see the disappearance of all these platforms. They are too centralized and containing. It’s why I just wrote my newest homepage [http://www.christeso.com] to aggregate all the data I push out at various publishing platforms. You’ll see decentralized platforms emerge, such as open social [http://code.google.com/apis/opensocial/].

    Congrats on 5 years, man.

Actually I don’t care if I’m on Goggle’s first page and I prefer to read niche blogs. I don’t have the time to read blogs that churn out 20 new post per day anyway. Maybe if blogs are out, all the pro-blogs disappear which might be good thing.

Can’t replace the spirit in an individual blog when it’s worthy of it’s followers. Where ever you take it next… Congrats on 5 years.
