Heh, no one better to point out the truth than xkcd 😉

True, but it should be noted not all addictions are always fun. Some addictions may bad, and a lot are very shallow. Also most addictions cater to lower level rewards, while more powerful activity’s fulfil higher levels. Solving another tower defence is nice, but it cannot really match the sheer scale and multimedia immersion of a proper next gen strategy game. It’s a different league, and not completely comparable.

Macaca… not sure how to respond to that. Seems like you are saying being “addicted” to a Flash game is bad and shallow but playing World or Warcraft for hours on end is somehow good for you.

  4. Frankman says:

I understand what Macaca is saying.
Who hasn’t played a game for days out of sheer “must-reach-next-level” addiction?
True, the game must have *something* that hooks you, but overall it doesn’t feel very satisfying.
It’s kind of like eating junk food. Your taste buds love it but the rest of your body not so much.
On the other hand, I don’t know what game would qualify as an overall healthy gaming experience.
Socializing games might be an answer (like karaoke revolution). Educational ones too.

this is a funny revilation its tru flash games are addicting to a point and that that they hook you but u soon get over them for a better game prehaps Gears Of War.

This used to depress me before I got into flash games and becoming a flash game designer, now it’s a great laugh, and oh so true.
