Just realized I should mention this, Infrared5 just put up a new website yesterday.
The design is by Rebecca Allen, implementation by John \m/ Grden.
Click around. It’s pretty cool. Some even cooler features planned for the near future. We just wanted to get something out by FiTC Amsterdam, as our previous site, was pretty… static.
I wonder why Flex was used in the construction of this site. *confused*
Looks very cool – congratulations.
At the same time, I was a little disappointed to see that it’s just one big swf with all text hardcoded as it gets difficult to maintain.
Hi Keith,
I like the site, but how about using a different mouse pointer when you are above something clickable on “the sheets” in the News and Blog section? Would make the site a bit more intuitive.

One more thing – Joa used your Polar Distortion example in his session at FITC as an example of how much faster Hydra may make graphics. He had that effect running at 1200fps in the AIF Toolkit!!! (no, not a typo. It really WAS running at twelve hundred frames per second).
Got a writeup at the end of this page:

Great!
What really rocks is the who s who list…
I’m not sure though if i like to read all the time a little bit rotated text… it’s strange for my eyes… I feel like a non constant font weight…

Tough crowd… 😐
… and when did “Making Things Movie” come out?
😛
Not sure I understand that last comment. But whatever.
So i wasn’t the first to spot the typo…
Keith, there is an extra “i” in “move”, making it a “movie” on your who’s who page… i’m sure you’ll find where exactly.
maybe tough, but i really like the site. Otherwise, i wouldn’t bother commenting!
good job
Nice work. But if you select ‘news’ in the menu, you no longer can use the menu as a note ‘Wanted’ hangs above it and the still visible items seems disabled.
Gaspy, thanks for decompiling our site! 🙂 Yeah, it’s all hard-coded text for now. We had very little time to implement this first version of the site before FITC Amsterdam, so it was the best choice given our time/resource constraints. Most people won’t know the difference, nor will they care what’s going on behind the scenes. Anyway, we are definitely integrating the site with a backend CMS that runs on Red5. That version is not yet ready for release though. And as Keith said, we are adding a ton of new features that should be killer soon.
As for the question, why Flex? Once again, it’s for some future features. Of course if the site were to be just what it is now forever, Flex would not make any sense at all. Be patient. Keith and the rest of us will announce as we keep adding features.
