Merry Xmas to me. When I did my last post, from my Nintendo DS, I caught a glimpse of all the lovely spam links in the footer of my blog. This is exactly why I changed my whole blog theme a month or so ago, thinking I just had a hacked theme. I guess someone actually really hacked in there and added that stuff. All the links linked to pages in an old directory of BIT-101 that was storing some old presentation files. There were 265 or so html pages created in there, all advertising cheap airline tickets, and all linked to from my footer.
So I cleaned all that up. My concern is that there might be some other php code somewhere else that is creating those links and files. I spent quite a while digging around, but couldn’t find anything. Finally upgraded PHP from 2.0 to 2.3.1 and changed my password. We’ll see how that goes. In the meantime, if you see anything funky or notice any spam links in the footer (usually only visible with JavaScript disabled), let me know.
im in ur futer stealing ur linkz
2.0? Really?
yeah, really.
Keith, I had the same issue on my blog, it is a wordpess issue.
You will want to upgrade your version of wordpress, as it will happen again unless you do. More info here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/123108/page/2

Yeah, I upgraded and changed my password. Crossing my fingers and checking my site daily with JS turned off. Crossing fingers.
I’ve just made my new blog online. My friend also owns a blog and complains that he gets quite a bit of spam and has been hacked into (luckily it wasn’t as bad as your experience). Let’s hope you aren’t hacked into again cos this blog is too brilliant to go down!
Damn it, Dan’s just informed me that the SWX blog has the same issue. Upgrading it now… grrr!
