MAX Chicago 2007, progress report

So…

MAX.

One word: LARGE.

Picture the average venue size for say a FiTC or FlashForward, multiply by 10. That’s about the size of the venue. It’s a good 10-15 minute walk to get form the hotel to the furthest reaches of the conference areas. All within the same building. After just a day and a half, my legs are already sore.

Another few words: LOTS OF PEOPLE. 4300. It’s really bizarre walking around for 10 or 15 minutes in a huge crowd at a conference and not seeing anyone you know.

Keynote was cool. My session was the first one right after the keynote. Attended some other cool things after that. The thing is there’s like 17-20 or some outrageous number of sessions going on at any one time. So really tough to decide what to go to. Best one today was the Flash Player Internals for me. Lots of cool data on what goes on behind the scenes.

Lots of free food and free drinks. So far today, I haven’t spent a dime. But that makes up for yesterday when I dropped way too much money on food and drinks.

As always, fun to meet up with friends from around the globe. Old friends, unexpected arrivals, and meeting new people. I’m having a blast. MAX is really fun so far, but very different than any conference I’ve been to. More later. Off to see the Birds of a Feather talk with John Grden on Papervision.
