Experimental ActionScript 3.0 at Boston Cyberarts

cyberarts 2007

I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this in more detail, but I’ll be doing a 3-hour workshop on experimental ActionScript 3.0 tonight at the Boston Cyberarts Festival. It will actually be a part of the New England Institute of Art’s series of events and workshops, organized by Michelle Yaiser.

The workshop will go from 6-9 p.m. at the NEIA in Brookline Village. Cost is just $40, or $25 with student ID, and I believe there’s still room. Here’s the description of the workshop:

The term ‘ActionScript 3.0’ is most often heard along with the terms ‘Flex 2’ and ‘Rich Internet Applications,’ and true enough, it is a powerful language that can be used to complex, useful, useable, and boring applications. However, once you overcome some of the initial learning curve, it can also be a powerful and very fun toy. Best of all, you can dive right in for free! In this workshop we’ll go over the history and highlights of Flash experimentation, then demystify ActionScript 3.0 enough to get you started playing with it and having fun.

It’s very hands-on and will be done in a computer lab, but feel free to bring your own laptop.

Also, check the schedule, there are a lot of other interesting workshops and performances going on, and you can get a good discount by signing up for all of them. Just don’t go to the Red5 one, because then Chris’s attendance might pull ahead of mine and I’d owe him a beer!
