Here’s what I’ve been working on instead of experiments.
I know there are some bugs, particularly with some of the older files loading in and not working. Feel free to give me the date of any experiment that doesn’t work and I’ll see what I can do to fix it up.
Please refrain from any comments on style. I’m not asking for them and I will ignore them anyway. I have more features planned for the site, but this is the base interface and I want to get that rock solid in terms of functionality before moving on.
I love the idea of it, in the vein of the Flash Blog for Flash Developers debate that rages! :p
Not sure about having people sort out the layout themselves in an authoring environment style way, could you combine some of your AI with mouse interaction to sculpt the positioning of the palettes?
nice. just a few general things that would help for usability in my opinion.
1) on the calendar, when you click on a date is should become light grey or something, to show which experiments you have already looked at, as I found myself loading the same experiment more than once, due to forgetting which dates I had seen.
2) on the main menu on the left it would be good to show which windows are already open and which ones are closed.
what do you think?
KP, what happened to the links to the source?
Bit, I like the new site a lot! I love that I can rearrange the interface to my liking, although I couldn’t quite resize the windows to my exact discretions. There are certain limits imposed on them it seems.
I second the idea about distinguishing between visited and unvisited dates. I also like the idea about somehow showing which windows are already open vs those that are closed.
One thing I liked about the old site that is gone now is the way the calendar was organized. It seemed much nicer to navigate months at a time rather than having this very long list of dates. Being that the list is so long as well, the scroller is a bit touchy and will send dates zooming by with the slightest movement.
