I made a lot of progress on the Brevity IDE and parser this week.
Lots of details and screenshots here.
It’s all coming together really well. The IDE and parser are both compiled to native Windows executables now (no need for Python to be installed), and I even figured out how to embed ActiveX in the program, so the compiled SWF can be launched right in a tab in the interface. A few things to clean up, and then I’ll let a chosen few start playing with it.
The main work at that point will be writing the Brevity Framework – the ActionScript classes that will make doing all the cool stuff look easy!
I have to say, this project is really exciting for me, personally. Probably the most exciting personal project I’ve done in a long time, if not ever. I hope others find it as useful (i.e. fun) as I envision it will be.
