Four years ago tomorrow, August 23, 2001, I did the first BIT-101 experiment. The site has taken me a long way since then. I was relatively new to ActionScript when I started it. Now I’ve got a great full-time Flash development job, more side work than I could possibly handle, contributed to something like eight or nine books, plus one book written cover-to-cover, won a Flash Film Festival award, spoken at Flash conferences in three countries. Life is good.
Of course, a big part of the success of the site, and hence my own success, is the open-sourceness of it all. People appreciate the fact that I share what I learn, and let them use it however they want it. All BIT-101 experiments go live along with full source. After a few months on line, I take them down and then they are available on the BIT-101 CD.
So, to celebrate and thank the community for all the good stuff that has happened to me over the years, I’m going to do a two-day CD special. Get the BIT-101 CD for $12.50 US, no matter where you are in the world. That’s not much more than the price of materials and shipping. Scoop them up.
