When I used to do pen and ink illustration, Celtic Knots were a lot of fun to draw by hand. Something sparked my interest in them recently and I realized that the system for creating them is really very logical and mathematical. So, of course I had to do it in Flash! Here’s the preliminary result:

Click on any rope intersection to cycle through the crossover types. You can make some pretty cool patterns. All done with the drawing api by the way.
There is still a lot I want to do with it. Eventually I’ll probably use SWF Studio to turn it into an executable that will allow you to save and load knot configurations and export bitmaps. Anyone know a good color picker component?
