Like many developers, I listen to music while I work, via iTunes on the same computer I’m coding on.
I’m often testing video players on line which are playing videos and ads. The same videos over and over, and the same ads over and over. And these play at the same time as my music. In the same headphones. So I did a quick search to see if there was some kind of plug-in or utility that could disable the browser’s sound, or control its volume. And I found it:
https://www.indev.no/?p=projects#flashmute
This is Windows only. Puts an icon in your task menu. Click on it and you can control the browser’s volume or mute it all together. Just what I needed. The one thing that took me a minute to figure out though, is that I had to go into settings and check “Mute whole browser”. After that, it works like a charm.
